Monarchs Message
Greetings Prophets,
Just as the Honey Badger will soon emerge from hibernation from somewhere along Skyline Drive, we too will turn our endeavors to ceremonial and fundraising events. The May Ceremonial is still unconfirmed, but we are preparing for it in the event we have enough petitions. The October Ceremonial is gearing up to be the “Big” event, coupled with a cookout and the Annual Halloween Fundraising Party. The fundraisers are a different story. We have confirmed October 6th and 7th for the Wine Festival, with two other events pending, plus a one day toothbrush drive. There will be communication, phone calls and signup sheets for Prophets to work these events. In the event we do not have enough turn out – the Grotto will PAY (even at a loss) a temporary labor company to fulfill our commitments. Prophets, we cannot back out of one of these events that we are offered without losing all future consideration for local fundraising events. I will hold to my commitment to not “over-extend” anyone, however I am asking that you extend a little for at least one event. I understand that masonry is full of commitments and obligations, the Grotto is also one! It’s not all work for the coffers and no play; we will have fun. There will be our monthly gatherings; a summer splash down; Prophet Appreciation Day in the fall to wrap up the years hard work with crabs, oysters, steak and libations; not to mention the Halloween Party. The enthusiasm and fervor currently taking place is starting to catch on and brothers in the Masonic community are asking more about “That Grotto” and filling out membership petitions! Thank you and let’s keep having fun and moving forward.
Fraternally yours,
David J. Pompilio

Monarchs Message
Greetings Prophets,
The first month of the year is nearly history as we are starting to look towards events of the upcoming year. Our January meeting went well, albeit a bit quick, but a good first run. To better organize the flow of meetings, the agenda will be included in the newsletter for everyone’s review. While other issues will come up and I am sure there will be reminders of things “left off” the agenda – it will at least give more structure. We had a good turnout, filled the remainder of required committees and benefited from a Past Monarch’s experience that filled in for an absent prophet. There are a few specific functions that we need a lead for – such as the Wine Festival, May Ceremonial Coordinator and it would be nice if some-one could step up and try to get some type of fundraiser established for St. Patrick’s Day, which also coincides with the drawing for our raffle!
Fraternally yours,

Monarchs Message
Greetings Prophets,
Thank you for your support and faith in installing me as the ABACA Monarch for 2012, truly an honor. This position is but an empty title without the support of members, officers and committees. No mans year should be a comparison to the past nor a prediction of the fu-ture: rather a real time “snapshot” of current happenings and fellowship. Too often man gets caught up what was and what should be; missing what is. What this „IS” is a group of like minded Masons who want to further fellowship beyond their Respective Blue Lodge, and to have a LOT of fun!
My main goal is simple – to go back to the quarry, look at the rocks, shore up the mortar, strengthen the foundation and continue the grand design. This will not happen by the end of my year, I too am a realist. While this is a tall order, if approached in small pieces it will be attained over time. The vision is to have each year‟s Monarch pass down a tiny legacy of moving forward – even if but an inch! I do not feel going backwards is an option if the Grotto is to remain viable
One means to this end is to involve as many as possible, even if it is a very singular and specific task – such as coordinator of Bring „Em Back. There are some other articles in the newsletter that outline what 2012 can be. I say can because no man rules absolutely, unless it‟s absolutely alone! This is OUR Grotto, one of few, filled with many of the best!
The January meeting will be on the 5th, at Fredericksburg Masonic Lodge #4 - 803 Princess Anne Street. On behalf of the officers and myself please accept this personal invitation to dine and share some fellowship on the 5th. (We are Grillin’ burgers & Nathans Dogs)
